London has a long and outstanding history with powerboat racing and it was tremendous to bring back the lifestyle and the atmosphere of world-class powerboat racing to London Docks in June 2018 – after nearly 30 years of not racing here. The surrounding was stylish: with old factory buildings and new and modern stae-of-the-art buildings in a dock harbor at London Exhibition Center. However, untypically the circuit was very tight and demanding for 20 boats, so therefore the UIM commissioner and Race Director took an unpleasant decision when skipping the normal start and having a rolling start for F1 instead. Erik Stark, the young driver from Sweden, who only got a last-minute-entry with Team Maverick, drove the race of his life, leading the crowd from start to finish and took home an excellent victory of his career. This gave him the chance to be offered the 3rd cockpit in Team Abu Dhabi for the rest of the season. Former World Champion Alex Carella and Portimao-winner Shaun Torrente dropped out during the race.
