Amaravati is the de facto capital city of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh., a ‘futuristic’ Greenfield city is being developed on the southern banks of the Krishna River in Guntur district. Amaravati will be established as the ‘People’s Capital’ and will incorporate a wealth of new ideas and concepts that are critical for the development of a modern city whilst maintaining an ecological balance and preserving heritage. For F1H20, Amaravati was the second new venue of the tour, bringing 19 boats to India to race the Krishna River for the first time. The last race in India on the tour was held in Mumbai in 2004 and only Francesco Cantando and Duarte Benavente have been racing F1 in India then and now. The weather in Amaravati was very European-like in the morning, but with immense wind and rain in the afternoon which interfered the race schedule. The race saw an accident already pn the start lane between former World Champion Philippe Chiappe and Duarte Benavente, but could be finished afterwards without further accidents. Nevertheless, due to the really hot conditions the engines had been really under pressure, forcing several drivers to drop out. Marit Stromoy, one out of only two female drivers on the tour, gained a 2nd place podium finish which made her best result of this year. Team Sweden found in Tourism Amaravati a new sponsor and changed team name to Team Amaravati.
